As for the Commerce City Police, they gave out over 100 citations for not wearing seat beats during the “Click it or Ticket” campaign.
During the multi-agency campaign, 20 fugitives were appended, a dozen vehicles were identified as stolen, and over 80 individuals were arrested for Drinking and Driving.
Since Click It or Ticket began seven years ago, seat belt use in Colorado has increased from 72 percent to 81 percent – That's roughly 270,000 more people buckling up in Colorado!
The goal of Click It or Ticket is to increase seat belt use and save lives on our highways. In 2007, 387 drivers and passengers died on Colorado highways and 178 (46%) of them weren't buckled up. Teens are particularly at risk. Last year, over half of teens killed in traffic crashes were not wearing seat belts.
