Public Help is Requested in Commerce City Corral Fire, up to 12 Horses Killed

COMMERCE CITY ― South Adams County Fire Department continues to investigate the fire that occurred in the 8400 block of Uinta on May 9, 2010, at about 3:15 p.m. The Colorado Bureau of Investigations arson investigator is assisting. A K-9 trained in the detection of accelerants was utilized and it is believed that an accelerant was present.

There are twelve (12) horses, several chickens, and at least one goat that have been found dead in the burned structures.

Several possible witnesses have been located and are being interviewed. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Commerce City Police Department at 303-289-3626.

Eleven years ago, this location was a scene of a triple murder involving gambling, cock fighting and drugs. This information has not been ruled out as a possible motive.
