HOMICIDE SUSPECT ESCAPES CUSTODY

Yesturday at approximately 2:00 pm, Tyron Jay Martinez, 060178, was being transported from Conejos District Court in Conejos to the Alamosa County Jail. At some point, Martinez was able to slip his handcuffs and overpowered the transporting deputy. Martinez escaped in a 2005 white unmarked Chevrolet Impala 4 door, bearing Colorado License 053ETW, which is owned by the Conejos County Sheriff's Office. The vehicle was not equipped with a cage. The vehicle was last seen in the Alamosa area.

Martinez was being held on 1st Degree Homicide charges for the murder of Norma Salazar, in August 2010, in La Jara Colorado.

Martinez should be considered armed and dangerous.
