Attorney General announces lawsuit against Denver company involved in consumer restitution scam

Colorado Attorney General John Suthers announced today that his office has filed a complaint against Denver-based RMI Associates on suspicion that the company fraudulently solicited customers that it could help them recover restitution related to a federal lawsuit the Office of the Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission recently filed.

According to the complaint filed in Denver District Court, RMI Associates, which also did business under the names recovermyinvestment and Daily Deal 360, Inc., as well as its principals, Russell Bryant III and Damon Smith, claimed that in exchange for an upfront fee they could assist those victims recover their losses related to filed a federal lawsuit against Westminster-based Dalbey Education Institute, formerly known as American’s Note Network.

“Neither our office nor the Federal Trade Commission have any relationship with RMI or the other defendants,” Suthers said. “Consumers who believe they are victims of Dalbey Education Institute, formerly known as America’s Note Network, can file — at no cost — a complaint with my office or the Federal Trade Commission.”
