Quality Paving VP Found Guilty...

The 17th Judicial District Attorney Don Quick announced that former Quality Paving Vice-President Dennis Coen (DOB: 08/01/1953) was found guilty of theft of Adams County funds.

In the spring of 2008, the Adams County Sheriff and Adams County District Attorney commenced an investigation into allegations of improper and illegal transactions between employees of Adams County Public Works and county road contractors, Quality Paving and Quality Resurfacing. Over the last three years, the investigation involved the collection and review of more than 80,000 pages of documents, interviews of factual and expert witnesses and detailed examinations of numerous county road construction projects.

After a three week trial and two and a half days of deliberation, an Adams County jury found Coen guilty of 62 felonies; including 20 counts of theft, 19 counts of conspiracy to commit theft, 21 counts of forgery and two counts of attempt to influence a public servant. The jury also found Coen not guilty on seven charges (four counts of forgery, two counts of conspiracy to commit theft and one count of theft).

DA Quick and Adams County Sheriff reserve any comment at this time except to thank the jury for their time and attention and to also thank Adams County Sheriff Detectives, Jeremy Whytock and Terry Miles, and prosecutors Dave Young and Jess Redman, for their efforts in this case.

Coen will be sentenced on April 12, 2012 at 8:30 AM in Adams County District Court, Division T.
