101 years in prison for attempted first-degree murder of a police officer
Shane Hotton was sentenced to 101 years in prison and Zachary Mathias to 32 years in prison.
Hotton and Mathias were convicted of shooting Commerce City Police officer Brandon Zbrowski and also shooting at other officers, during a chase on the 6500 block of Olive Street of Commerce City.
Commerce City police were responding to a report of gunfire in November of 2007. The pair of men fired at the Commerce City police cruisers, a bullet ripped through the door of Zbrowski's car striking him in the leg. Officer Zbrowski received the Purple Heart and has recovered from his wound and is back at work.
