On Thursday, May 21, 2009, Kristie Hawkes, 37, of Thornton, succumbed to injuries sustained on Monday, May 18, 2009.
On May 18, 2009, at approximately 9:20 p.m., Hawkes was found hanging in her cell by her cellmate. An investigation is underway, but there is no indication of foul play.
On May 10, 2009, Hawkes was arrested by the Thornton Police Department and was booked into the Adams County Detention Facility. Hawkes was being held, without bond, for a Denver warrant for Probation Violation, with the original charge of Criminal Possession of Financial Devices. Hawkes was also being held for failing to appear in court in Adams County for charges of Vehicular Eluding, Driving Under Restraint, and Reckless Driving with a bond of $2,500.00 and for a warrant from Jefferson County for Contempt of Court for Failing to Comply with Intervention on a Forgery charge, the bond for this warrant was set at $200.00. The Thornton Police Department had pending charges against Hawkes for Forgery - Other than Checks, Criminal Impersonation, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

She was kind and she could overcome any obstacle that got in her way...
