Decdember 18, 2009 - Last night another break in happened in Reunion where they went through the outside side garage door and went into the house. Also last night between 11:00 pm and 1:00 am someone additionally tried to break into the sliding door of a second home. The home owners of the second home had activated the foot lock on the slider door, which ultimately kept the burglar from getting in. They were home at the time.
If you're leaving town for the holidays, ask your neighbors to watch your house. Corner houses are particularly susceptible. At night close your blinds and leave lights on in your home. Turn on all outside porch and yard lights and leave them on over night as this will light up Reunion more at night. Use energy saving bulbs. During the day leave your television set on. Talk to your neighbors that are home during the day so they are aware that you are not, so they can keep an eye out on your home while you are gone at work.
Residents of Reunion are being asked by the Commerce City Police to PLEASE call 911 if they see anything strange in their neighborhoods. This includes people walking, strange cars parked in places that are not normal or even if dogs are barking out of the ordinary. Also know that the city of Commerce City does not allow any door to door sales, including the security alarm companies. If any one comes to your door that you do not know, please ask them to leave without opening the door. Do not open the door to them to allow them to force their way in. Do not answer any questions for anyone at your door and call 911.
Call 911 even if you think it might not be important. It might be the one 911 call that assists law enforcement to stop this and bring these people to justice.
