Brighton Police say Graffiti has Essentially Gone Away

A year ago, almost 700 reports of graffiti took place in the city of Brighton. According to the Brighton Police Department, this number has now dwindled to almost nothing.

The credit for such a drastic decline is the use of high definition cameras. These cameras which can take a clear resolution pictures within 300 feet of the vandals have been essential in the identifying and charging individuals. The courts have declared the high definition pictures as being "indisputable"

The cameras are set up at popular graffiti locations, such as Montoya Park.

The city of Brighton was able to obtain one of the camera via a grant.

The Brighton city council passed a tougher ordinance dealing with graffiti late last year. Parents could end up paying for graffiti damages caused by their children.

At the end the main message is: "it’s not worth it to tag property in Brighton".
