On the afternoon of Monday, November 24, 2008, Aurora Police received a request to check on the welfare of a woman living in the Winsor Court Apartments located at 10990 East 16th Avenue in Aurora, CO. Aurora Police officers went to the woman's apartment shortly after noon and discovered Angela Ball deceased inside. It was later determined that she had been killed five days earlier.
Prosecutors provided evidence that the victim was stabbed approximately 91 times about her face, neck, shoulders, chest, arms, and hands. Norman Williams’ DNA was found in at least ten areas inside the victim’s home, all of which are connected to the victim’s blood. Williams’ DNA was also found in the victim’s fingernail scrapings on both hands. The jury also heard evidence of the involvement of drugs. There was no evidence of argument before the stabbing. The victim was a cousin of Williams’ spouse.
“Even after 23 years on the job, I was still shocked by this extraordinary violent murder,” states DA Don Quick. “Unfortunately, it is one more example of the relationship between drugs and violent crime.”
