Alcohol Related Rollover Accident on Interstate 76

COMMERCE CITY ― Police officers are investigating if alcohol played a role in a roll-over accident on westbound I-76 early Tuesday afternoon.

The driver of the 2001 Nissan Pathfinder was westbound on I-76 when she lost control and crossed over the eastbound lanes. The vehicle rolled at least twice before coming to rest on its wheels on the south side of I-76.

The driver, a 31-year-old female from Brighton, was airlifted to Denver Health Medical Center with serious injuries. Her condition is unknown.

Once again I want to Thank the people who stopped and stuck with me til help arrived, but my biggest Thank you is to a man named Mike who called my husband to inform him of the accident, and still called him later to check on me! There are still good caring people in this world that stop what they are doing to give help to a total stranger!

I am so glad you were wearing your seatbelt. I admit sometimes I don't wear mine, but after hearing your story, I will be wearing it every time I am in a car.

    Cera,
I broke my leg back in 2003. I know it hurts like hell now, but I am telling you it will get better. Except for when it rains. But it will get better.

I am glad to see that you are okay at least as much as you could be for being in a terrible accident.

cera: My advice for you is to not repay a act of kindness, but pay it forward.

I used to own a pathfinder back in the day. I remember the doors being very flimsy. You are lucky to be alive. Glad to see you are doing better.

  14. I am so thankful for the comments I have received. All of your positive comments have made me so happy! When I am up and much better I plan on sharing my story with anyone who will listen. This was an alcohol related accident and I want to share with people that those few beers you drink and thinking you can still drive, you can still have a near fatal accident! I lost my little brother in July of 2009 to a alcohol related motorcycle accident. I should have known better but I have also learned I'm not untouchable! I'm very happy that my bad judgement, MY MISTAKE didn't hurt any body else but myself! My brother was my angel that day and not only saved my life but also kept me from hurting anyone else! I want to help others, by letting people know this can happen to anyone, seatbelts save lives, and just a few beers that one time that month can turn your family lives upside down and other family lives upside down too! Thank you everyone!

  15. Cera,
Your a good person and we all make mistakes. It is what we do after we make that mistake that defines us. You are owning your mistake and not making excuses. I admire you for that.

  16. I have a sense that when people are put in a REAL situation, they will do what is right. The actions of the man named Mike in Cera's story is what being a caring human is all about.

The world would be a lot better if we all took a lesson.

Amazing how some guy named Mike can trigger such a great sense of compassion.

  19. I am so sorry about your brother. I have recently almost lost a loved one to a accident. It is a horrible feeling that can greatly effect you. Know one really knows what it really feels like until you go through it.

Great discussion. I have to say I am a little surprised the direction this took. I too lost someone close to me in a car accident. It crushes your heart and makes you cry for days on end.

I will like everyone to spread the word that Drinking and Driving can and will effect REAL families for an entire lifetime.

  21. My husband tells me that, that everything I do effects everyone around me! Right down to my neighbors who help take my kids to school for me now that I can't my Dad who's been here to help with my kids while my husband works because I can't walk well or fast. I cried to them the day I came home apologizing for the worry I put everyone through! Then finding a place like this to try and tell everyone sorry right down to the people who had to wait in while the highway was shut down because my mistake. Also not being judged for the mistake I made. People stopped and helped me in my time of need because I'm the kinda of person that would have done the same thing for anybody else! I belive in Karma and that everything happens for a reason.

  22. Cera, so glad to hear that you survived and will pray for your quick recovering. Could you consider calling MADD, Mothers Against Drunk Drivers as they have forums where you could tell your story there and really help a lot of people. Best of luck and God will look out for you.
