Troopers Release Names of Victims in Yesterday's Fatal Crash on Highway 93

Troopers have determined that a Nissan Sentra was traveling northbound on Highway 93 when the driver lost control. The Nissan spun into the path of a Chevrolet Equinox traveling southbound. The Equinox struck the passenger side of the Nissan.

The driver of the Nissan, 18-year-old Haley Hajek of Littleton was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Nissan, 19-year-old Brooke Riemer of East Troy, WI was also killed. A third occupant, 19-year-old Alexandra Cunavelis was transported to St. Anthony hospital with serious injuries. Cunavelis remains in the hospital and is from South Burlington, VT.

Both occupants in the Chevrolet Equinox were also transported to the hospital. The driver, 75-year-old Robert Gall sustained moderate injuries and has since been released. His passenger, Caroline Gall, age 72, remains in the hospital with serious injuries. Both are from Pinckney, MI.

While the crash remains under investigation, troopers believe that driving too fast for the conditions may be the leading contributing factor in the crash. There was snow and icy conditions at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor.
