
The Office of the Attorney General filed its complaint against Hirschfeld in June 2010 for his role in soliciting funds for an oil and gas investment opportunity under a series of business names, including VRH Capital, which proved to be fraudulent. Hirschfeld took in $5.8 million for the alleged oil and gas project in Lea County, N.M. His informed prospective investors that he could secure them returns of 8 percent to 12 percent per month.
The Colorado Division of Securities assisted the Office of the Attorney General in filing the complaint and prosecuting the case against Hirschfeld.
