
Asay was charged today with 20 counts of Theft ((Three F3's and 17 F4's) one count of Embezzlement of Public Property (F5), three counts of Attempt to Influence a Pubic Official (F4), one count of Official Misconduct (M2) and one count of Theft (M1). Charges result from alleged criminal activity occurring from June 2005 to August 2008.
As set forth in the affidavit for the arrest warrant, charges stem from the use of County trucks and equipment on work contracted to Quality Paving contrary to the contract provisions.
Sheriff Doug Darr stated, "This is the result of an ongoing and continuing long term investigation. Much of the evidence referred to in the affidavit has been gathered over the past six months."
District Attorney Don Quick added, "There are matters that we are still investigating. We have no further comment until our investigation is complete."
Lee Assay was arrested and posted the scheduled bond amount of $10,000. Court dates are pending and have not yet been set.
