Commerce CIty Police Community Meeting, Subject: Peeping Tom

Recently, the Commerce City Police Department received several reports of a man prowling and peeping in windows of homes in the area located between the 6200 and 6600 blocks of Monaco Street. The Commerce City Police Department will hold a community meeting to share information and safety tips with residents in the neighborhood.

When: September 14, 6:30 p.m.
Where: Servants Heart Church, 6405 Monaco Street

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 30 to 40 years old with dark hair and eyes. He is usually seen between the hours of 9 p.m. and 1 a.m.

If you hear or see any suspicious person or activity, call 911 immediately and stay on the phone with the dispatcher. Do not try to talk to or restrain the suspect.

The Commerce City Police Department always recommends that you take the following precautions:

**Keep all of your doors and windows locked.

**Close your curtains in the evening. If you have mini blinds, consider installing curtains that are more substantial over them. The goal is to make it impossible for a peeping tom to see into your house.

**Keep your front and rear porch lights on. Install floodlights with motion sensors around the house, keeping them pointed at dark places and near windows where a peeping tom might hide. Consider placing things that crunch or planting thorny bushes around the windows.

**Keep lights on inside your home even at night. Rotate the rooms in which you keep the lights on to throw off a peeping tom. If your house or apartment is dark except for your bedroom window, your location will be obvious to someone outside.

**Be aware of your surroundings and those who normally come and go in your neighborhood.

If you spot a peeping tom or other suspicious person in your neighborhood, write down a detailed description including the height, size, facial features and clothing of the prowler and the time it happened. Try to recall as many details as you can and call 911 immediately.
