Prairie View High School Bomb Threat Today

At 10:00 a.m. today August 24th, Prairie View High School was evacuated due to a sign that had been placed on a locker that said “explosive”. It was reported that a ticking sound was heard inside the locker.

The Adams County bomb squad arrived on the scene as well as police officers from Brighton, Commerce City , Thornton and the Greater Brighton Fire Protection District.

A controlled release of students was implemented and school was dismissed early so the investigation could continue. Students will return to school tomorrow as the building has been cleared.

Two PVHS students were questioned about the incident and released. The investigation revealed that no bomb threats were made to either police or school officials, and the electronics were determined to be a home-made battery charger one of the students had built. During the course of the investigation, the school was thoroughly searched with the assistance of the Adams County Sheriff’s Department, and no explosives were found.
