Victim Not Dressed Appropriately for the Weather Conditions... UPDATE: Arrest Made

UPDATE: The Colorado State Patrol arrested a 64-year-old John Mayner on suspicion of vehicular homicide Friday afternoon in connection with the Jan. 13th death of 33 year-old Denver resident Leyla Sahs. The accident took place on  Picadilly Road and south of East 152nd Avenue in Brighton. Reported, Mayner could also face driving under the influence of alcohol charges and driving with excessive alcohol content. CPS Trooper Heather Cobler reported Sahs was trying to visit a friend in the area when her car broke down. Cobler thinks several people may have given Sahs rides before she was in the area where the Camry hit her. A second vehicle, a 2005 Chevrolet pick-up, also hit Sahs after the first collision. The CSP knows who the driver is. That person is not facing charges, but CPS troopers would like to talk to the individual. Anyone with information about the collision should call 303-289-4760.

The Colorado State Patrol have identified the women how was hit and killed by a car on Picadilly Road and south of East 152nd Avenue Thursday, Jan. 13th as 33 year-old Denver resident Leyla Sahs. Reports say Sahs was not dressed appropriately for the weather conditions and was barefoot.

The driver who was involved in the accident is 64 year-old Northglenn resident John Mayner. CSP report that Mayner is being helping during the investigation. It is still unclear why Sahs was out in the rural area walking.

The CSP investigators continue to search for an unidentified white or light gray sedan that may have seen or was involved in the accident.

Any witnesses or people who may have been in the area are urged to contact them at 303-239-4501.

  1. Odd indeed! I would like to know the rest of this story. Why didn't the first ladt call 911 when she noticed her walking around for nearly 40 minutes barefoot and not dressed appropriately? It would seem to me, a compassionate person would have at the very least call for a health and welfare check! Secondly the woman who was driving home with a child in the back of her car, you served and almost missed hitting this woman by inches???? Really??? If you were so afraid for your life, why not drive up a distance and call 911???? Where is the humanity in Denver???? Heartless? I think yes! Then the family friend(?) really, you don't call the police first????This story is tragic! She was loved.she was a mother, a daughter, sister, Auntie, cousin, granddaughter, niece.... tragic! Even if you felt she might be mentally unstable, why wouldn't you call 911???? Shame on all of these people who in my opinion let this happen! And to the cowards who ran her over like a deer and left the scene, you will burn in hell!
