MAN WANTED FOR PAROLE VIOLATION ARRESTED AFTER SHORT PURSUIT

On January 25, 2011, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Adams County deputies were involved in a short pursuit after contacting the occupant in a suspicious vehicle in the 7300 block of Pecos Street.

The driver, who was later identified as Alejandro Jaimez, 19, of Denver, attempted to drive away as the deputies were in contact with him. Jaimez revved the engine and put the vehicle in reverse. Jaimez then backed the vehicle toward several deputies and rammed a marked patrol unit. Jaimez then drove forward towards several other deputies causing the deputies to jump out of the way to avoid being hit. Jaimez drove over several parking blocks and a pursuit ensued onto US 36. Jaimez lost control of the vehicle and impacted a retaining wall at the I-25 interchange. Jaimez continued to drive a short distance until deputies were able to stop the vehicle. Jaimez refused to comply with verbal commands and physically resisted arrest. Deputies were able subdue Jaimez and place him into custody. A K-9 was utilized during the altercation with Jaimez.

Jaimez was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and released. Jaimez was taken to the Adams County Detention Facility where he is being held for investigation of First Degree Assault, False Reporting to Authorities and Vehicular Eluding. He is also being held for several outstanding warrants in including one for Parole Violation. Sylvia Sandoval, 24, of Aurora, was with Jaimez, was arrested for investigation of Possession of a Controlled Substance and for an outstanding warrant for Theft. Sandoval was not in the vehicle at the time of the pursuit.
