District Attorney Don Quick announces the completion of a racketeering prosecution involving 12 individuals manufacturing and distributing methamphetamine and other crimes.
In early May 2010, North Metro Drug Task Force received information from a confidential source regarding male and female distributing large quantities of methamphetamine in Adams County as well as other Denver Metropolitan areas.
The source stated that methamphetamine had been purchased from a male identified as Michael McCullar (DOB: 07/23/1976). The source also reported that McCullar has eight to 12 individuals who distribute methamphetamine for him to 25-50 various users. The source further stated that the group is known to be very violent.
From May , 2010 to November, 2010 McCullar and others were under surveillance through a court ordered wire interceptions, GPS tracking devices, and other listening devices. During the surveillance, several methamphetamine sales and purchases were observed as well as the purchase of items used to manufacture methamphetamine.
In addition, On June 2, 2010, a man reported to police that on or about May 24, 2010, he was “pistol whipped” in the face by McCullar and that McCullar and a female Mary Voogt (DOB: 01/22/1967) had stolen his friend’s automobile with the friend still in it.
On November 2, 2010 charges were filed against McCullar and 11 other individuals involved in the manufacturing and distribution of methamphetamine.
“These crimes are examples of how the combination of the drugs and violence present a significant risk to the entire community, not just the parties directly involved in the drug trade”, says DA Quick. “I want to thank the North Metro Task Drug Force for their thorough investigation. Their diligence and hard work has helped to make our community safer.”
McCullar pled guilty on March 31, 2011 to Colorado Organized Crime Act (COCCA) Pattern of Racketeering (F2) and Aggravated Robbery (F3). On June 28, Adams County District Court Judge Francis Wasserman sentenced McCullar to the Colorado Department of Corrections for 24 years for the COCCA and 13 years for Aggravated Robbery, to be served consecutively.
